A letter by Sachin to all his fans

Dear fans,

I am saddened as I write this letter. I know I have disappointed you with the series loss against England and my performance isn’t what you have always expected of me. I have always given my best for the team, but the results are not in my favour this time around. People are clamouring for my retirement and I can’t agree more with them. I have not been living up to the standards that I have set for myself through the years and I am indeed answerable to the fans.

The greatest speech ever made by Charlie Chaplin-The Great Dictator

I’m sorry but I don’t want to be an Emperor – that’s not my business – I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another, human beings are like that.
We all want to live by each other’s happiness, not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone and the earth is rich and can provide for everyone.
The way of life can be free and beautiful.

In Lok Sabha, a congress MP during his speech told a story.....

"There was a father who gave 100 rupees each to his 3 sons and asked them to buy things and fill up a room completely.

First son bought hay for Rs. 100 but couldn't fill the room entirely.

Second son bought cotton for Rs. 100 but couldn't fill the room entirely.

Third son bought a candle for Rs. 1 and lit it up and the room was filled with light completely."

The Wall retires from the International Cricket

March 9th 2012 will be considered as a bad day for the Indians as Rahul Dravid retires from the International Cricket.

The media room at the Chinnaswamy stadium (venue of Dravid’s exit press conference) had the national press trickling in much before the scheduled start.  The mood was already nostalgic and the Karnataka State Cricket Association contributed by greeting everyone with despondent instrumental music from ‘Veer Zaara’ (Tere liye, hum hain jiye, honton ko siye…Dil mein magar, jalte rahe, chaahat ke diye).

Shortly after, in walked the man of the moment - Rahul Sharad Dravid with his father, wife and young sons by his side to be part of his farewell.

Rahul Dravid's retirement speech
I would like to announce my retirement from international and domestic first-class cricket. It has been 16 years since I first played a Test match for India, and I feel it's time for me to move on. Once I was like every other boy in India, with a dream of playing for my country. Yet I could never have imagined a journey so long and so fulfilling. I have had a wonderful time, but now it is time for a new generation of young players to make their own history and take the Indian cricket team even further.

NonStopTimes wishes A.R.Rahman on his 47th birthday

Today, A.R.Rahman is a name known world over, thanks to Slumdog Millionaire and the awards  and nominations its bagged. Like everyone here in India, I have known him and his music right from the time Roja was released in 1992  thats a good 18 years.
Everyone speaks of his music, and what he eats, sleeps, drinks and what he does when he is free and so on so forth. But really, there are things much beyond that that one needs to know and learn from the legend that A.R.Rahman is. With so many many people who speak so high of him at all times, there are some things that are unsaid and certain things that we so easily ignore about Rahman, that makes him stand apart from the clutter.
